Mountain Magic
It all started in 2021 when we decided to organize Riasten Rainbow Retreat. We gathered close friends at our mountain cabin and danced around the fire against the backdrop of the majestic mountains of Sylan. Through workshops and communal activities, the intention was set. We wanted to create something magical through the making and sharing of knowledge and music. After three days and nights the conclusion was clear: this had to become a tradition!
The Magic Grows
The following year we were twice as many. In late summer, people flocked to a concept they had heard a lot about over the past year. The stage was set for Risten Rainbow Retreat Returns (RRRR). With one extra day and an extended program, there was even more room for all the participants' contributions. From jam sessions to marsh baths, workshops on eco philosophy, sex positivity and Norwegian folk dance, all topped off with bonfire dances and a sauna rave. RRRR showed us that the concept still had potential and people were hungry for more.
From Sky to Sea
After two years of nature, dance and rituals in the mountains, we recognized that time was ripe for a new concept. We looked to the coast for inspiration, and found what we wanted at the remote, newly started eco farm Fjordbruket. This space was deemed perfect for the third iteration of the community gathering: FjordFest '23. With self-constructed outdoor toilet, outdoor kitchen, a bar and two stages, our close to one hundred guests from near and far could enjoy five days of coastal magic. From lectures on animism and queer gods to bouldering and star gazing, the gathering climaxed with a groovy fire dance and music until sun rise. Our community had found a new home.
